I think that people who have a hard time restraining themselves with a credit card should switch to a debit or secured card. When they switch from credit to an all cash budget, they are less likely to overspend, or buy something believing they can just pay for it later. Alot of secured cards even report to the 3 credit bureaus, so they can build their credit history without using credit at all.

Oh boy do you speak my language (and that of my girl friends)! I think I have used every single excuse on the list! And of course there were occasions where I would use my credit card just to look 'cool' when I'm out with my friends. That is exactly what I was telling myself several years back as I was manically putting those little bit of plastics called a 'credit card' through those silly little machines that ended up in a Big mess of a debt which (thankfully) I was able to get out of. Now my boyfriend makes me budget and watches all my finances! And you're right paying credit cards off in full each month is definitely the way to go! Made me feel so much better at the end of the day without a BIG debt on my back and a new bill around every corner.
