Tons of people are looking for ways to earn money online. I was in a day job from June 2005 to July 2011 making about $35,000 a year before taxes and benefits, but now I work from home and have been making more than $10,000 a month with my own online business. Let’s just say, I am a big fan of the opportunities to earn money online that are available right now.

Staff Writing for Online Sites

Blogging has grown in popularity over the past twenty years as more people have learned that blogs are a good way to earn money online. There are a lot of sites on the Internet that you can blog for and earn some extra cash. You can control the amount of money that you make by staff writing for as many sites as you like. It is a nice way to make a stable income stream.

I started staff writing as an additional income source about a year ago. At one point, I had more than 11 gigs and was bringing in about $1000 a month. I liked the stability but had to start cutting back as my advertising business grew.

Selling Advertisements

Advertising is one of the oldest money making forms out there. Billions of dollars are spent on print and electronic advertising. The latest trend in advertising is using the Internet to reach more viewers. Advertisers are searching for people with great websites who can help them to grow their businesses and increase sales. You can start a website and earn money online by placing advertisements on your site. Advertisers will pay you cash to reach your audience. The earning income is limitless depending on the popularity and ranking of your site.

Performing Programming Work

Computer programming is a really interesting field and the pay can be outstanding. You can make a lot of money online by performing tasks for those that need help with the technical aspects of their site or business. Computer programming is a diverse field as well. You can make money by creating websites for others and helping them to solve their online issues. You could also help with storage issues, debugging sites, or helping to restore a site after a crash. It is up to you which area you choose, but once you build up a solid reputation, the opportunities are limitless.

Selling a Service

You can provide an online service that people need and are willing to pay you money for. This could be working as a virtual assistant for someone or performing some routine tasks like following up one emails and answering customer requests. You could also serve as a consultant or rent your expertise out to a business online.

I personally am finally using my Marketing degree – I started an advertising business in which I handle and negotiate ad deals for bloggers that either don’t have the time or the connections. I am the middle man between more than 100 sites and every advertiser interested in them. In essence, I’ve created a huge Babysitter’s Club for online advertisers. In return, I get paid via a set percentage of each deal I close. Over the past 6 months, I went from earning $1000 a month online to my most recent monthly income for October, which was more than $18,000.

In short, there are hundreds of thousands of ways to earn money online. Find your niche and run with it!
